Sazan Island & Karaburun boat trip
The classic Vlora day on the water: across the bay to Albania’s largest island, then along the wild Karaburun coast with swim stops.
⏱ Half day or full day
Not the longest list — the right one. Boat trips, beaches, viewpoints and evenings, each with what it needs from the weather, so you can check the live camera and decide.
The island, the peninsula, the mountain pass, the beaches and the table — plus the guides to everything you can book.
With children? The Lungomare city beaches have gentle water on calm days, the Lungomare has the Ferris wheel and space to run, the footbridge to Zvërnec’s islet is a small adventure, and a calm-morning boat trip suits most ages.
Sazan Island, the Karaburun coast, the Haxhi Ali cave and sunset cruises — the reason most people come.
The classic Vlora day on the water: across the bay to Albania’s largest island, then along the wild Karaburun coast with swim stops.
⏱ Half day or full day
A large sea cave at the northern tip of Karaburun, entered by boat on calm days — one of the most photographed stops on the coast.
⏱ Usually part of a 3–6 hour trip
Leave the waterfront in the last two hours of light and watch the sun drop behind Sazan Island from the water.
⏱ 1.5–2.5 hours
Your own boat and skipper for a family or group: choose the coves, set the pace, and go as far as Grama Bay on a long day.
⏱ 4 hours to full day
From the city beaches under the promenade to the quieter Old Beach beyond the port.
The beaches along Vlora’s promenade — walkable from the centre, lined with cafés, and the ones you see on the live camera every day.
⏱ Any time
Vlora’s original town beach, on the far side of the port to the north-west — quieter than the Lungomare beaches, with older buildings among newer hotels.
⏱ Half day
The paragliders you see on the camera, flights from Llogara, and snorkelling in the marine park.
Tandem flights from the hills above the bay, landing on the beach — the paragliders you spot on the live camera on suitable days.
⏱ 2–3 hours
Take off from the mountains by the Llogara Pass, about a thousand metres up, and glide down towards the Ionian coast — the Riviera alternative to the bay flight.
⏱ Half day
Clear water, sea caves and rocky coves inside the Karaburun-Sazan marine park, reached on boat trips that build in swim and snorkel stops.
⏱ Half day or full day
Independence, an Ottoman mosque, a hilltop castle, Caesar’s harbour at Orikum and a day out to Berat.
The historic heart of Vlora: where Albania declared independence in 1912, a 16th-century Ottoman mosque, and the old quarter on the hill.
⏱ 2–4 hours
A hilltop castle above the village of Kanina, south-east of the city: Illyrian origins, walls rebuilt by Romans, Byzantines and Ottomans, and the whole bay at your feet.
⏱ 1–2 hours
At the southern end of the bay: the small town of Orikum, its lagoon and marina, and the remains of Oricum, the harbour Julius Caesar took in 48 BC.
⏱ Half day
North to the ruins of ancient Apollonia, then inland to Berat’s Ottoman old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site — a long, rewarding day away from the coast.
⏱ Full day
Lagoons, a monastery islet and the mountain road to the Riviera.
A wooden footbridge to a pine-covered islet with a medieval monastery, in a lagoon where flamingos winter — twenty minutes north of the city.
⏱ Half day
The mountain road south of the bay climbs to about 1,000 m through the Llogara pine forest and drops to the Albanian Riviera — a day trip or the start of the next leg.
⏱ Half or full day
Seafood by the water, and olive country at Dukat.
Grilled fish, mussels from the lagoon and a long table by the water: the Vlora lunch that works in any weather.
⏱ 2 hours, ideally more
Below the Llogara road, the Dukat plain is olive-oil country. Agritourism farms serve local dishes, their own oil and wine — a slow lunch on the way to or from the Riviera.
⏱ 2–3 hours
The promenade after sunset.
The promenade after dark: the xhiro, the Ferris wheel, dinner by the water and the city lights you see on the night camera.
⏱ Evening
