At the southern end of the bay: the small town of Orikum, its lagoon and marina, and the remains of Oricum, the harbour Julius Caesar took in 48 BC.

Dukat: olive groves and a country lunch
Below the Llogara road, the Dukat plain is olive-oil country. Agritourism farms serve local dishes, their own oil and wine — a slow lunch on the way to or from the Riviera.

Choosing a tour
- Hours on the road vs. at the sight. Berat and Apollonia in one day is a long drive; read the itinerary for time on site.
- Group size and pick-up. Small-group and private options cost more but start from your door.
- Guide language, entry fees and meals: included or extra?
- Off-road tours: ask what protective gear and briefing are provided, whether you need a licence to drive, and who is liable for damage. UK advice warns that some rented jet skis and boats lack proper safety equipment; apply the same caution to off-road rentals and choose licensed operators.
- Cancellation terms, especially for anything weather-dependent.
