Paragliding over Vlora Bay

The gliders you see crossing the camera’s view are tandem flights: a pilot, a passenger, the whole bay below. Here is how it works, what decides whether you fly, and where to book.

Right now over the bay

Is today a flying day?

The pilots decide — wind strength and direction matter far more than sunshine. If gliders are on the camera, someone is flying right now; if not, ask the operator rather than assume.

Conditions shown here are general information. Vlora.live never says whether it is safe to fly; that is the pilot’s call.

Two ways to fly

Over the bay, or from the mountain

Each page has what to expect and the conditions the flight likes.

What to expect

From the ridge to the beach

  • Over the bay: listings describe a take-off from the Shashicë ridge above Vlora after a safety briefing, then a flight over the city and the Lungomare, landing on or near the beach. The time in the air is usually short — listings quote about 10 to 20 minutes — but allow two to three hours with transport.
  • From Llogara: launches from the slopes near the Llogara Pass (1,027 m) look over the Ionian coast instead; plan half a day.
  • Who it suits: anyone comfortable with heights who can run a few steps at take-off. No experience needed. Operators set age and weight limits; if you have health concerns, ask the operator and your doctor first.
  • What to wear: closed shoes, layers (it is cooler up top), sunglasses with a strap.
Before you book

Five questions to ask an operator

  1. Who is the pilot? Ask about the pilot’s tandem qualification and experience, and whether passengers are insured.
  2. What is included? Transport to the launch, photos or video, and pick-up from your accommodation.
  3. What if the wind is wrong? New slot, refund, or nothing — get the answer before you pay.
  4. What are the limits? Minimum age, weight range, and any health questions.
  5. Where do we meet, and when? Flights follow the conditions, so morning slots are common; confirm the day before.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need experience to go paragliding in Vlora?

No. Tandem flights pair you with a pilot who flies the wing; you need to follow the take-off briefing and run a few steps. Operators set their own age and weight limits — ask before booking.

Where do paragliding flights in Vlora take off and land?

Flights over the bay are listed as taking off from the Shashicë ridge above the city and landing on or near the Lungomare. Other flights launch from near the Llogara Pass above the Ionian coast.

What happens if the weather is wrong?

The pilot decides on the day, and flights are often moved or cancelled for wind. Ask in advance whether you get a new slot or a refund. Vlora.live never makes flight-safety assessments.

Can I see paragliders on the live camera?

Often, on suitable days — the wide views of the bay regularly show gliders above the Lungomare. Seeing them tells you someone is flying; it does not tell you conditions suit you.

Are the booking links affiliate links?

No. They go to public booking sites and are labelled External; we earn nothing from them. If that ever changes, the link will say “Affiliate link”.
