Flag and Independence Day
· Vlorë — in recent years the official flag-raising has taken place at Flag Square (Sheshi i Flamurit)
The anniversary of Albania’s declaration of independence, made in Vlora on 28 November 1912. A national holiday; in 2026 the day off moves to Monday 30 November.
- Vlora is where independence was declared, so the city is the traditional centre of the day: in 2024 the President, the Prime Minister and the Speaker attended the official flag-raising in Vlorë.
- The 2026 programme had not been published when we checked on 17 October 2026. We will add times and places when an official source confirms them.
- Liberation Day follows on 29 November (day off Tuesday 1 December in 2026); banks and offices close on both.
