Llogara Pass and the Riviera road

The mountain road south of the bay climbs to about 1,000 m through the Llogara pine forest and drops to the Albanian Riviera — a day trip or the start of the next leg.

Follow the coast road south past Uji i Ftohtë, Radhimë and Orikum and it starts to climb: the Llogara Pass crosses the mountains at the base of the Karaburun Peninsula, through a national park of black pine and fir. The views from the top take in the whole of Vlora Bay on one side and the Ionian coast of the Riviera on the other.

Paragliders also launch from Llogara, and the restaurants near the pass are a classic lunch stop for lamb and mountain air. Beyond it lie Dhërmi, Himara and the Riviera beaches.
