The Lungomare pier and promenade palms on a clear afternoon

Getting around Vlora

Vlora follows its bay for kilometres: the Old Beach north-west of the port, the Lungomare south of it, then Uji i Ftohtë and the road on towards Orikum. Walk the waterfront, use taxis and minibuses for the coast, and save the car for the mountains.

On foot

The Lungomare — the palm-lined promenade you see on the live camera — is the city’s spine. From the centre and Flag Square it is a flat walk down to the waterfront, the pier and the city beaches, and the promenade continues south towards Uji i Ftohtë. The Old Beach is the other way, north-west beyond the port — a taxi ride from the centre. Early mornings and evenings are the pleasant hours in summer; take water at midday.

Local buses and minibuses

City buses and minibuses (furgonë) link the centre with the coast road south towards Radhimë and Orikum, and with the main approach roads. Pay the driver in lek. For intercity buses — Tirana, Fier, the Riviera — check lines and times on eTransport, the national platform.

Taxis

The simplest way to reach the southern beaches in the evening, Zvërnec and Kanina, or a bus stop with luggage. Use official taxis and agree the fare first. Taxis in Vlora.

Driving and parking

Zones and fees still being set. The municipality consulted the public on paid-parking zones in February 2026. We found no adopted tariff — follow the signs on the street.

  • Parking near the Lungomare is hardest on summer evenings, when the promenade fills. If your accommodation offers parking, use it and walk.
  • Obey signs and markings; do not block driveways, junctions or the promenade’s access points.
  • Never leave valuables visible in a parked car.
  • For longer drives — Llogara, the Riviera — read the road notes on Car hire.

By boat

The bay’s best places — Sazan Island, the Karaburun coast, the Haxhi Ali cave, Grama Bay — are reached by boat from Vlora’s waterfront and from Orikum. There is no public ferry to them: trips are organised tours or private charters. Boat trips from Vlora.
